China Round 2

Thursday, May 18, 2006

Today is a shopping day at the Fu market. Got just over 200 yuan of food. Lots of vegtables for the next few days of meals. But a lot of foods for experimenting.

There is a really bad burning smell in the air. I don't know exactly what is making that smell. What ever it is, it caused a really great lightning storm that evening.

They were doing repairs to water main tomorrow from 6am to 6pm so no water. So we have to load up buckets and pans of water for usage in case we need them. Wow real old style.

The Experimental Chinese Food Of The Day is:
Mother's brand Beef Steak

It is actually a beef jerky. It comes spicy hot, but I think I will just try the normal stick.

Well for starters it is a hard and chewy stick. It is hard to bite off a small piece to try but you can, so that is a good sign. Now if you chew on it and suck on it in you mouth, the strongest taste you will get is the coarse black pepper flavour. I also noticed that the jerky is rather dry in the sense that when you start sucking on it, it starts to break into small pieces rather that staying together on the stick. Otherwise a nice meaty taste.
